As a Virtual Assistant, a greater part of my working day is spent working at my computer, and avoiding com discomforts and injuries such as RSI are an important component of lifestyle.

There are as many products that are advertised as being "ergonomic" for office use as you could possibly wish for. Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) from typing has been a widespread problem in many office workplaces and a great deal of research into the causes of this syndrome and ways to prevent its occurrence has resulted in some great products and protocols being produced. Wrist pads, foot raising blocks, specially shaped keyboards, sloped desks, kneeling chairs that look like pieces of gym equipment, bead, memory foam and magnetic seat covers and so the list goes on. Ergonomics is the catch word of modern office furniture designers, and the science behind achieving the correct support for your back, neck, shoulders, arms etc is a very important one.

The introduction of gas lift chairs to office workers has probably been one of the greatest back savers of all time, because being able to sit comfortably with your feet flat on the floor or even with your toes slightly raised allows your legs to play their important role in supporting your back whilst sitting for long periods of time.
